I'm Terry, founder of Pumice and Stone Soap. A small-batch skincare company rooted in gathering regional ingredients from sustainable sources. Pumice and Stone Soap was founded in 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. Long before that I have always had a dedication and passion for organic, sustainable agriculture. That's why my soap is free from fillers, synthetic fragrances and colorants. I grow, gather, infuse, and blend many of the plants used in my formulas. I prioritize quality and my impact on the planet over profits, and health over convenience. 

It all started where we lived on the coast in Newport, Oregon, where I began making and selling soap and body care products at the local farmers market. Those were just the humble beginnings. I was still learning about soap chemistry and botanicals and how small adjustments in my recipes could change a bar completely! I was governed by Andrew's diagnosis and my life was taken over by it. I was a full time high school art teacher at the time and coming home to make soap after school offered me a creative respite from work and cancer. That hobby grew into an obsession. I wanted to learn more. That was over a decade ago. Andrew sadly did not make it, but I'm still here, inspired to still want to make the best skincare products that are honest and natural.

You don't have to live in Oregon to appreciate this region that provides a lot of the inspiration for locally grown and gathered ingredients, many of which I forage from the river valley and the Oregon coast. You won't find fancy swirls and groomed soap tops or unnecessary ingredients for misleading added value. I seek honest and transparent ingredients. It is my belief that soap formulations should be made simple for safer, more effective ways for taking care of you and the planet. That's just tradition and traditions stick with us for a reason. Made only with 100% certified organic oils.
